Belayu village is a Balinese village that has changed little over time yes there is cars and bikes, TV’s and the kids have a mobile phone but the day to day life is mostly same
today as it has been for many centuries. Originally founded in 1649 today you will be the guest of The Royal Family who will show you around their village and explain the day to
day activities that occupy a Balinese life.
Belayu is a village far removed from the tourist route there are no large coaches or tour groups. It is a beautiful village nestled in a valley in the Tabanan regency.
The Royal Family will be your hosts and guide today as of course no-one knows their village better than the Family. As you wander through the village you will be taken too
many points of interest, visit a local house, the local banjar (council) meeting place and local schools. Throughout the morning you are free to ask any question you like about
what you are seeing or the way of life of the village.
This visit is not structured it is up to The Royal Family on the day you arrive to decide where they will take you in the village.
You will be invited to a blessing ceremony in the palace performed by the village priest or Mangku the blessing is to bring you luck and protection in your life ahead. After the
ceremony the priest or his assistant will tie a cotton string to your wrist made up of three colours red, white black representing birth death and life. It is considered that whilst the
string remains on your wrist that you will be protected against bad fortune, so it is best to just let it come off in its own time.
Pickup time from your villa is @0900 and you will return to your villa around 1530.
